Bloodstone
By admin on Jul. 20, 2008.
Bloodstone (Heliotrope) is a red-dotted green jasper. It belongs to the Chalcedony/Quartz-family.
Bloodstone is a protective stone, it makes prudent and promotes idealism and altruism. Altruism or divine love is the opposite of selfishness. This is probably why heliotrope is called the martyrs stone or stone of Jesus Christ.
During the Middle Ages people thought that the stone was stained with blood from Jesus Christ when he was crucified. Therefore heliotrope is also called "bloodstone".
Carry it to enrich iron-poor, tired blood or to help balance other blood-related disorders. Hold bloodstone against a bleeding wound to staunch the flow of blood.
