Sodalite

By admin on Jul. 22, 2008.

Sodalite is a scarce mineral that contains sodium and aluminium with a greyish blue to a rich royal blue color, often mottled with white veins or patches. It is named in reference to its sodium content.

Although very similar to lapis lazuli, sodalite isn’t quite comparable or as much used as lapis lazuli which - in many cases - has a stronger effect. But sodalite shouldn’t be forgotten. It clears up mental confusion and reestablishes inner peace. Its deep color is quiet and calming, and is an excellent help in case of high blood pressure.

This rich royal blue gemstone is one of the most grounding of the blue stones, it has a natural affinity with the third eye chakra. Its function is to calm emotions and to help balance the intuitive and logical sides of the brain.
Sodalite is an ideal aid to transformation when used in meditation.

Sodalite is a wonderful help for anyone who suffers from anxiety or panic attacks. Many people who wear this gemstone experience a deep level of peace and a profound emotional balance. Sodalite grants the ability to ‘look inside’ on a deeper level. It is said to neutralize negative thoughts and emotions directed toward you by others.

Sodalite is used for alleviating stress. People who feel stressed should carry a sodalite in their bag or put a larger sodalite in their office, which is very soothing. Sodalite is a stone of logic, rationality, and efficiency, it helps to get along with others and aids in group-or teamwork.
