Topaz
‘joy, decisiveness’
The name ‘topaz’ comes from the ancient Greek word ‘Topazion’, meaning ‘to seek’. Topazos was an island in the Red Sea. Other sources state that its name is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘tapas’, meaning ‘fire’.
Topaz is quite a hard gemstone, it has a hardness of 8 on the Mohs scale. The most rare of the topaz family will be the imperial or gold topaz, its light to dark golden color is spellbinding and therefore, the most valuable. Gold topaz holds the distinction of being the gemstone with the widest range of curative powers.
Yellow is the color in which topaz is most commonly found. Yellow – gold is also the color of the solar plexus. You could wear a gold topaz to activate and balance this chakra and to stimulate creativity.
Topaz has a powerful, radiant golden, healing energy. Its main effect is to balance the energy flow through the central nervous system.
Gold topaz is also used to enhance tissue regeneration, for example, in case of a scar or something similar. It will create a better energy flow which is beneficial, even if it concerns an older scar. After surgery, it is good to wear a gold topaz to speed up the healing process.
Because of its strong connection to the energy of the sun, gold topaz has – like amber and citrine – a beneficial effect on depressed people.
